VMware worked OK before I updated to Ubuntu 12.04, when I try to run Vmware Player it says that it needs to compile and load into the running kernel, using VMware Kernel Model Updater. It successfully compiles the following: Virtual Machine Monitor, VMware Blocking Filesystem, Virtual Machine Communications Interface and the VMCI Sockets. But it does Compile the Virtual Network Device and therefore will not Start the VMware Services. Is this a know issue and how do you fix it?

Ensure you install the player correctly.

here is the solution that worked for a friend of mine: http://slackblogs.blogspot.de/2012/01/vmware-workstation-802-and-linux-kernel.html For me it didn't work and I used the beta, which works just nicely on ubuntu 12.04 :) |

I had to do a apt-get install patch first so that the patch-modules_3.2.0.sh script run. After that I could use VMWare again. I am using an 12.04 upgraded from 11.10 xubuntu. |
