Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I recently switched to Ubuntu 11.10 from Windows. The panel has been acting really weird lately. What happens is when I click on sound icon to change volume, the menu for Bluetooth connectivity pops up. When I try to hover over the popped up menu, the latter disappears the moment I move my mouse.

It is just not one icon that has been troubling me. When I click on network icon in the panel, it pops-up the menu for Chat and then the popped-up Chat menu just disappears as soon as there is a movement of the mouse.

I hope I was able to explain my situation. I am sure you must be aware of this issue. Please advise.

Thanks.

You should file a bug report about this. bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu – RobinJ Apr 15 '12 at 8:46

If you decide to file bugs for this, you can get the necessary information together against the bug easily.

You will though need a launchpad account. If you have not done so already - https://login.launchpad.net/+new_account

Reporting a bug is easy with ubuntu-bug, start the dash and search for terminal then open one.

If you wanted to open a bug against the sound indicator then run

ubuntu-bug indicator-sound

I'd be inclined to first reinstalling them - search for indicator in Synaptic (search dash again)

There's a search box - type indicator to see results, right click to get reinstall option.
