Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I'm using ubuntu 11.10. At time of writing, everything is up to date with no PPA installed. Sometimes, without any reason, ubuntu automatically logout without any input from me. That happens when using evince or libreoffice, but I don't think it's a problem of software. Anyone can help? Thanks ;) Pentium 4 2GB ram nVidia GeForce 6200 with propietary drivers (280.13)

My problem with the bug report is, there seems nothing to report at all. Even in .xession-errors. Same problem here for months. Nothing in /var/logs even. – brubaker Apr 5 '12 at 15:50
Codalunga: can you copy/paste the output of tail -F /var/log/syslog around the time when the system shuts down? It's possible that there is information there about what triggered the shutdown. -- er, s/shutdown/logout – Jeff Welling Apr 5 '12 at 15:50
Does it only happen when your using evince or libreoffice or does it happen even if those applications are closed? – Jeff Welling Apr 5 '12 at 15:52
