Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

It is really annoying when dialogs and other windows that 'belong' to window on other desktop are being opened on the desktop I'm currently working on... Is there a way to make Unity/Compiz open it on their parent window desktop?

(I'm assuming here that there is such a thing like parent-child relations in at least some of the app's windows... correct me if I'm wrong...)
