I followed the commands to make a bootable usb drive on my friends mac. Everything worked fine and then he left on spring break and gives me a call saying that his OS wouldnt load anymore. I assume it had to do with the sudo command but I only ran it once and it worked perfectly on the usb drive and I followed the instructions to the tee. What did I do wrong?
The command I used was
sudo dd if=/ubuntu.img of=/dev/rdisk1 bs=1m after I had checked that disk1 was my usb drive.
I don't think I could have targeted my friends HDD because it worked on my usb drive. After I used it it worked until he rebooted (he left on spring break) so when he was back home he texted to say that he needed $80 to get it fixed because it wouldn't load the OS. I never used RM
I followed the instructions shown on
step by step and only ran sudo once targeting the correct drive.
