I have aptitude 0.6.2.1 and I'm on Debian Sid. I installed it around a few months ago. I never usually upgrade my packages, and now there are 985 recommended upgradeable packages.
I just tried to install python-lxml but in doing so and selecting it with + it recommends that 30-40 packages be removed including gnome-audio and gedit. It seems to also force python to update from my 2.5.4-9 to 2.6.6-3+.
Obviously I do not want to remove gnome-audio and gedit so what is my course of action? Should I upgrade all my packages before trying to install this package which requires these dependencies which break my core system packages?
