I think it's the PDF itself that does it. The printer prints testpages OK, and printing the same file from Mac OS X gives the same result.

The PDF was created using Posterazor

Is it only this particular PDF file, that prints out black in Ubuntu, or other PDFs and text documents as well?! You could try to edit/crop this particular PDF in Preview.app in OS X and print in Ubuntu again. If it works fine this time it might be Posterazor that is causing the problems. – v2r Mar 16 '12 at 21:00

That is good news!! To be assured you could create a new PDF with minimal content (to safe ink) from/within "Posterazor" and print it again in Ubuntu (also take a closer look at the apps preferences for possible problems) and if that one turns out to be black too, you know that Posterazor is causing the problem!! – v2r Mar 16 '12 at 21:09

@EricCarvalho: I used a work-around, printing jpg-files as I recall. Why would one delete this question? Seems to go against general SE-policy. – Jonta Apr 5 at 13:23
