Will libimobiledevice work with future devices in general? Or is there some lag between when a device is released and when it is supported? How about when new versions of iOS are released?

There is some lag. With most new devices you often have to wait a little bit after release for it to be supported. Especially with Apple products since they tend to make it difficult for anyone to use their product without their official software. |
