I've tried every guide I can find online but nothing seems to work (i've tried rEFI and every other solution I can find). Is there some trick to this that i'm not seeing?
I think the problem lies with the pendrive.
Any ideas?

Without getting to0 technical may I suggest you try burning the ubuntu .iso image to a cd/dvd (if it's an option) for some reason I myself don't always have the best luck installing ubuntu from pen drives. I seem to have a lot better luck using cd/dvd. |

Have you tried getting the live distro working off USB? That should show if it is the pendrive. Macbook's all support booting from USB (Even support booting from firewire on older editions) If you boot up and hold option key, you should see your HDD and windows Partition if you have one, you can I believe insert the key then, if it pops up your good. If not I would get another stick to try. I have more luck with ones under 8GB for installs. |
