I am running Ubuntu 11.10 on a 13" macbook pro but when I close the lid to suspend, resuming opens to a mismatched screen consisting of black and white bars and weird gradients of black and white.
I have found no way to get past this so I hold down the power button and reboot. The mouse moves around on the screen but nothing else loads. I have no idea how to proceed and have only been able to completely shut down when I finish working, I am not in a huge rush but I would appreciate any input.
Ctrl+Alt+Deleteto bring up the log-out/Shut-down screen. You won't see it, but if you typeCtrl+alt+Delthen tap enter it will log-out so you can log back in. This usually clears it up for me. You can also tryCtrl+Alt+Tand typesudo compiz --replaceandsudo unity --replace. After typing one of the commands just wait a second or two and hit enter and type your root or admin password and hit enter. This doesn't always work, but sometimes it saves me from having to do the log-out/back in fix. – Jeremy Jared Mar 5 '12 at 2:11
