Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

When I start typing a search word in Google Chrome in Windows, I get suggestions for popular searches by default. I recall having the same feature in Chromium (or Chrome..?) in my earlier Ubuntu / Linux Mint installation.

What do I have to do to enable this feature? I couldn't find anything in the preferences.

My Chromium's version is 17.0.963.56 (Developer Build 121963 Linux) Built on Ubuntu 11.04, running on LinuxMint 11

Its should as described in the FAQ (try our friends at Unix & Linux Stack Exchange).) fit the Unix and Linux Stack Exchange site. And yes, it was because you are running Mint, nothing against it but you cannot say things are 1:1 identical with Ubuntu, so that makes it off topic. @BrunoPereira Thanks for providing an explanation. I did notice that part in the FAQ but I doubt this question would have fit there any better as their FAQ implies. –  miq Feb 29 '12 at 14:41

Thanks for understanding, glad you where able to solve the issue yourself. I have cleaned some comments so that they don't add up to a big list. –  Bruno Pereira Feb 29 '12 at 14:43
