Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have been using Microsoft since 3.11, fairly masterful in all things "Windows". Taking plunge into Linux without regrets! So far, so good.

Ubuntu desktop for family, server with light GUI for me (I run a Minecraft server). Tried this back with Mandrake, couldn't figure things out enough, but times have changed (mainly Linux's GUI OS's) BIG problem: My wife cannot print coupons!!! Have Firefox on her desktop, Ubuntu 11.10. The web site states specifically "will not run on Linux". It wants to install *.exe plug-in to run in browser.

Been reading about WINE. Is it the answer, and/or how?

Coupon.com is problem. wants to install *.exe program to print "manufacturer acceptable coupons". will try suggestion offered. Thanks.

OK, got past coupon.com website hurdle (thanks). it now takes me to "ready to print". Next hurdle: it wants to install and run "couponprinter.exe". Workable?

It's difficult to tell what is being asked here. This question is ambiguous, vague, incomplete, overly broad, or rhetorical and cannot be reasonably answered in its current form. If you could edit your question a bit to be more specific (and detailed (about what plugin you need to install for example), and to have a better title, then it can remain open). –  RolandiXor Feb 28 '12 at 2:03

Very glad to head that you're satisfied with Ubuntu. However, the way this site works, makes it very dependent on clear and precise questions. Please limit the chatter and provide as much details as possible. –  Jo-Erlend Schinstad Feb 28 '12 at 2:04

Also, mention the website so that people can check for themselves.. –  user25656 Feb 28 '12 at 2:46

Coupon printing is currently supported on the following systems: Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Windows 2000: Internet Explorer 6+, Firefox 1.5+, Netscape 9, Most MSN and AOL browsers. Macintosh OSX 10.4 or higher: Safari or Firefox. Linux or WebTV are not currently supported. (If you are unable to print when using an MSN, AOL, or Compuserve browser, please try printing your coupons using Internet Explorer 6+.) AGAIN IF YOU INSTALL THE PLUG-IN I RECOMMENDED IT WILL WORK. IT CHANGES THE USER AGENT TO INTERNET EXPLORER SO THE WEB SITE THINKS YOU ARE USING A WINDOWS COMPUTER. GOVERNMENT USES THIS –  Ringtail Feb 28 '12 at 6:53

It is not possible to use this site in Linux, even with wine.

See this bug report for details. I have not gone to the site , but some people seem to feel it is disreputable.

I suggest you use a work around:

  1. Use another site (google search coupons).

  2. Dual boot just for this site, and other issues you might have.

  3. Run windows in Virtualbox.

Some web sites are particular with what browser is used, however there is a workaround for that. Use the "user-agent-switcher" plug in. It's available here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/user-agent-switcher/

swicher

This assimilates Internet Explorer and has other features
