Firefox and chromium keep constantly crashing. For some reason they seem to work slightly better when I type the commands in terminal to run them as opposed to selecting the icon from unity, but it still crashes and the 'mozilla report error' soon appears..

edit: The crashes appear random, there isn't always flash on the web pages when it occurs edit: I'm 32-bit, Dell inspiron, 250GB, 3GB RAM, Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz × 2 - ubuntu version: 11.10

thanks

edit: Output of terminal when crash occured: "(exe:10501): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed"

You might want to give us some more information. Try starting Chromium or Firefox using the Terminal. When it crashes, it'll probably print out some information on what caused the crash. That would be really helpful in these kind of situations. – Robbietjuh Feb 23 '12 at 20:57

Check your RAM with memtest (available from the boot screen) and the HDD with fsck. This sounds like there may be some corruption happening.
