For the most part, I have my images named like this:

picture#tag1#tag2.jpg

It works pretty nicely, I can just filter by file name and get the tags out of it. They are easy to use and so on.

But digiKam does not see them as tags, they are just parts of the name. digiKam itself has tags and also a nice face recognition feature that allows me to tag multiple images easily.

Now I have a slight mess of tags:

  • file name hash tags
  • digikam tags
  • digikam faces

The problem is also that the digiKam tags are just within the program, which limits me to this program.

I am thinking about converting my hash tags into IPTC keywords tags, which is easy with Python.

Is there some way to get the digiKam tags into IPTC as well?

And can I search within the IPTC tags in digiKam? I have not found that yet, but it would be important, of course.
