Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have Firefox 10.0.2 on Xubuntu 11.10. Every time I go to either www.gnome-look.org or www.xfce-look.org Firefox crashes, even when running it in safe mode with all the add-ons disabled.

Firefox is a fork regarding security issues and will crash when something suspicious is happening under the lid, but these two web pages don't seem to be a threat.

Has anyone experienced any issues with these sites and Firefox, or even solved a similar problem with Firefox?

Please let me know if can provide some other output from my system to resolve this. If I can't resolve the issue I feel I will need to switch to Chromium, which never crashes but sends all my browsing data to Google and what not.

Thanks in advance

never crashes but collects all my browsing data and such ?? – poolie Feb 21 '12 at 4:22
from what I know google collects personal data from your browsing activity in order to develop new marketing strategies as well as target potential markets. I wan to keep what i browse on the internet for myself, not for others. – Stbn Feb 21 '12 at 6:11

There's a StackExchange question about Chrome privacy and a Wikipedia section. If you don't use Google services, they won't track you. Please don't spread FUD. – poolie Feb 21 '12 at 7:11
This question should instead be filed as a bug report, thanks! Instructions here. – Jorge Castro Feb 22 '12 at 13:35

This site is meant to answer questions. What you're describing, is not really a question in that sense, but more of a bug report. Those should be filed at Launchpad.net, which is designed specifically for that. This way, problems can be solved permanently, for all users. It's very easy to do, but you'll need to register first, so go ahead and do that.

To file the bug itself, simply press alt+f2 and type ubuntu-bug firefox. It will then gather relevant information about your system and upload to Launchpad. You can then add a description. The more details you can provide about how you're able to cause the crash, the better.

Thanks for the suggestion, will do that. Anyway this site is quite helpful in finding answers and workarounds about different issues on ubuntu and linux in general, so that's why I posted the pseudo-question. – Stbn Feb 21 '12 at 4:10
