I have a Toshiba Satellite with an AMD Turion X2 that I am trying to install ubuntu on using a USB stick. The hardrive has Windows Vista on it but is from a different laptop so it is not accessible. I set it up to boot from the USB and it seems to work until the Wireless portion where you select the network. It freezes there everytime. I got the stick from a friend who used it to install Ubuntu on his laptop and it worked for him. Any help would be great.

If you consider you have enough knowledge, (which you don't actually need, it's more easy than it looks), you should try an alternate install.

Ubuntu.com Alternate ISO

The text install is normally one-way, step-by-step setup. You should watch some YouTube videos if you need some preliminary guidance.

Good luck! ;)
