Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I am using firefox browser and my laptop is DELL Inspiron 1545. I am using Hathway internet connection. When i switch on my internet modem and try to use(browse any website), for the first time in a day it will redirect me to Hathway's login(something like "login.hatyway.com/.....") page automatically. It is working fine in windows but not in Ubuntu 11.10. So I go back to windows every time and then login and then i come back to ubuntu to use.

Could you please let me know if there is a solution to this problem.

What are the symptoms of it "not working" in Ubuntu? What exactly are you doing, what happens and what do you expect? Please give more details. –  Sergey Feb 16 '12 at 2:43

When i type google.com or any website for the first time in a day i will be redirected to hathway login page(login.hathway.com/bsp/…) automatically in Windows and there i have to enter my credentials to access internet. But when i try to do the same thing in Ubuntu 11.10 it will not redirect or open any page and the firefox/chrome will keep trying to connect to page and never ends. –  Vasu Feb 16 '12 at 3:20

After doing some R&D i found that this page redirection is working fine in KDE version linux but not in gnome. Looks like this is problem with Gnome. –  Vasu Mar 21 '12 at 5:25
