I tried to fix the resolution of Grub and Plymouth, but it didn't work, the signal was out of range during the boot, then I reinstalled grub and it worked again.
But then I tried the program called Plymouth Manager, and I disabled plymouth accidently, then the software didn't work again, so I couln't reactivate plymouth. when I restarted the PC, instead of the boot animation I was seeing text showing the boot process. Then I tried to restore plymouth by reinstalling it and its components, and now all I see after grub is a black screen where the animation or the text should be shown, and then the system starts normally.
The black screen stays for about 15 seconds. What should I do to restore the Plymouth animation? Already tried the commands to activate it, but didn't work. That black screen makes the PC look like it's not loading the system, there's no any indication, not a white line, just the black screen. I'm using Ubuntu 10.10.
I have the Macbuntu theme installed, but I'm sure that's not the reason of the problem. I don't want to reinstall Ubuntu, I would lose a lot of data. I hope someone can help me fix this issue.
