Firstly, I apologize for not being more specific with my problem, but Ubuntu One is just not providing me with any information. It appears to be working, it states that "syncronization in progress..." but it never actually syncronizes (by never I mean 3 days). When I first selected a folder to sync using Ubuntu One it took on the order of hours to sync over 500MB of files - it uploaded the folder hierarchy first and populated the folders over a few hours. That is not happening at all now.

Please let me know if there is a way I can get more information out of Ubuntu One that I can post and hopefully resolve this issue.

Thanks, Joe

One way to get feedback is the command line tool u1sdtool. To use u1sdtool to get information about how many items are in the sync queue open a Terminal and run the command:

u1sdtool --waiting | -wc l

If you are on an older version of Ubuntu One that command is split into two commands:

u1sdtool --waiting-metadata | wc -l

u1sdtool --waiting-content | wc -l

This will show you the number of items waiting to sync. Ubuntu One syncs metadata first, then content. You can gauge progress as the number gets smaller.

There is also a project called Magicicada that is a GUI for the Ubuntu One syncdaemon. It allows you to connect/disconnect and see the items in the queue. You can install it with these commands in a terminal:

For Lucid you will have to add the ppa. If you are on Maverick and newer the package is in the repository and you can skip to the next command.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:chicharreros/ppa

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install magicicada
