Is there a way to get proper "homerow" editing working?

I've managed (configuring xkb) to map caps-lock as a modifier, and then caps+j = left-arrow, caps+k=up-arrow etc, and that works well.

What does not work is what corresponds to shift-left or ctrl-shift-left - jumping one word left, and the same while marking (to do cut or copy afterwards) respectively.

Anyone have any tips for how to map this?

I'm kind of confused. Are you talking about vim here? I think it has this kind of editing automatically. – bntser Feb 5 at 1:17
