I have ubuntu 11.10 64bit, everything worked fine but after i uninstalled the airtime dj app i can't restart or shutdown my pc !! The only way to reach at the screen showing that system is going to shutdown is via terminal but it stucks and never shuts down ! I can't even restart it ! I can suspend my pc fine but can't shutdown or restart it. Need to keep the power button pressed for a long time to shut it down !

Do i have to look for a shutdown script and find out what is happening ??

I'm very unhappy with this it gives to my nerves.

Can you run shutdown -h now and does it shutdown? If so, you could take the easy way out and make a desktop shortcut with that command to shutdown. – William Feb 4 '12 at 12:32

If you use WiFi, but not 3G - replace network manager with Wici. If you use 3G - you can use "Hibernate" instead of "Shutdown".

But I'm looking forward for the next Ubuntu version - I believe that they should fix this problem.
