Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I am trying to start up a webserver (LAMP) but I only get past the intro which is the language selection (English) and then I choose install then it loads for like a second but then the screen goes blank (but it is clearly on), I have left it for more than 4 hours and the same result. The computer is like 4-5 years old, has 469 MB RAM, a 80 GB SATA HDD and a Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz.

Question: how do i fix this, and continue with installation?

I tried installing from the Alternate Server medium but it didn't work either so I tried old server 10.04 and that worked.

So the question is answered thanks to ONE ZERO.
