I'm using this example: https://gist.github.com/davidboy/1045233 on Ubuntu 14.04 [Gnome Classic]. The system tray icon is shown. But it disappears when the indicator-application-service starts. After the indicator-application-service is stopped, the icon shows up back.
If I use the signal "connection_changed", it seems that the property "connected" is true when the indicator-application-service is running, otherwise - false.
Setting APP_INDICATOR_STATUS_PASSIVE while "connected" is true did not help (according to: https://developer.ubuntu.com/api/devel/ubuntu-12.04/c/appindicator/libappindicator-app-indicator.html#AppIndicator--connected)

Steps To Reproduce:
- if indicator-application-service is running, stop it
- Run example -> icon is visible
- Start indicator-application-service ->icon disappeared ("Connection status: Connected")
- Stop indicator-application-service -> icon is visible again ("Connection status: Disconnected")

If the indicator-application-service is not running there are no information about this application (example-simple-client) in the d-bus log (dbus-monitor).
