How can I fix this error to update Ubuntu 10.04 LTS?

sudo mv /var/lib/dpkg/status /var/lib/dpkg/status.broken
sudo mv /var/lib/dpkg/status-old /var/lib/dpkg/status
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
