  • You're trying to install a latest version of wine! Are you sure this version is in your repository? Did you add a new repository to install the latest version of wine? like: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa ? Reply.. Oct 24, 2013 at 3:01

Follow these steps to install wine1.7

  • open terminal and execute these commands:

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install wine1.7

if again last command gives you some error then replace it by:

    sudo apt-get install wine1.7 wine1.7-i386"=1.7.4-0ubuntu4"

  • It should successfully install wine without any problem. :)
