I have been searching EVERYWHERE!!!!! And I cannot seem to find a driver for my GeForce 7300 GS video card. If I don't get it, the Android SDK emulator won't work. I get this error while starting the emulator up:

X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 154 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 19 (X_GLXQueryServerString)
Serial number of failed request: 12
Current serial number in output stream: 12

I looked up anything and everything, and the results I got was to get a video card driver, which I can not find. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

There is in fact a driver, for 12.04 and 13.04 and 13.10 and 14.04:

First, we wanna install a PPA:

12.04 and older until 10.04: sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates

12.10 and up: sudo apt-add-repository ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa

Now, update!:

sudo apt-get upgrade

And your little drivers:

sudo apt-get install nvidia-current nvidia-settings

Source

And the list of supported graphics cards (see in the Source) (warning: wall of text coming) is:

I always go with the Ubuntu-x drivers. They are a massaged version of the proprietary nVidia drivers. I can say they have always worked without a problem. Just add this repository from Launchpad and install. They will also update through the Update Manager as new versions become available.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nvidia-current

Another option is to open the System Settings menu. This can be found by clicking the gear and wrench icon on the launcher bar or as the first item on the top panel power button menu. On the System Settings menu there is an item called Additional Drivers. Select this item and it will perform a scan and will detect your video card. A menu will pop-up with your driver options. Here you may then select the "Recommended" option and click "Activate".

No matter which option you choose for installation, you will be required to restart the computer to begin using the new driver.

  • Well, I am using Ubuntu 12.04, so the second option wouldn't work. I added the Ubuntu-x drivers, and that worked, but I am still getting the emulator errors...Thanks for your help! Oct 11, 2012 at 23:23
